Razzblitz, Episode 2: Is Spencer Ware-ing On Us?

We! Are! Live!

Zach and myself go through the NFL news and try to decipher whether or not it is reporter non-sense or the real deal.

Zach Brings up Colin Kaepernick in a Colin Kaepernick free podcast and ends up throwing bad karma in the direction of our favorite social justice warrior.

Bonus: Zach plays a long-con joke on me that was really hurtful and unnecessary…

I’ve written an article detailing how this excel cheat sheet was created here. The article explains how to make an excel cheat sheet. Understanding how it’s made will help you customize it to your liking. Modify the projected statistics as you see fit. The projected statistics found in this cheat sheet are updated bi-weekly. The strength of schedule is ours and the ADP and age is obtained from various sources.

Explaining the Data:

ADP: ADP stands for average draft position. ADP is a useful resource one uses to get an idea of when players are being drafting. Obviously every draft is different, but ADP give you a little insight as to how long you can wait before targeting players during your draft.

SOS: SOS stands for strength of schedule. I wrote a useful article about fantasy football strength of schedule, you should read it for some in depth insight on how to use SOS to your advantage. SOS really helps me with “coin flip” type decisions during the draft. Let’s say you’re looking at two WR and can’t make up your mind, they’re pretty equal, except one WR has an easier SOS, this makes your decision pretty easy!

FFP: FFP stands for fantasy football points. In this column you’ll find the projected fantasy points based on your league settings.

Age: This is just the players age. I pay attention to this because I usually try to avoid older RB and WR out of their prime age. 29 and up for RB is pretty old and they start to loose burst, for example.

2017 Dynasty Rankings: Running Backs

http://ift.tt/2q8YbW4

That’s a perfect Bernie right there, folks. He hit it once, hesitated, then went to the next level before celebrating with his teammates in the end zone. Ok, wait…are we talking about Le’Veon Bell doing the Bernie or actually running a football? This dude’s more elusive in the backfield, slipping through the line and blowing past the second level than anyone else in the NFL. Sure, you can take the injury he suffered a year and a half ago (he was totally fine once coming back), and the fact that he parties like he’s trying to be in ‘Weekend at Bernie’s,’ into account. Me? Nah…I’ll just take the best player in the fantasy game when he’s running full steam.

How The NFL Draft Impacted Running Backs

Hello everyone!

The 2017 NFL Draft has been in the books for a while now, and here at Razzball we’ve already provided some great content recapping the draft in MB’s article and the Razzcast episode from Friday, but I wanted to provide a closer look at the draft from the running back perspective. The reason why I am choosing to do this is because they are the only position that is impacted in such a big way. Offensive lines are upgraded, flashy new rookies are drafted, and even important role players are selected each year that garners our attention. Sure, new information will come out between now and the start of the season in September, but it’s important now to analyze the information in front of us to start to gain an edge over the rest of your buddies in your fantasy leagues.

So let’s get to it!

2017 Dynasty Rankings: Quarterbacks

http://ift.tt/2q2fFDm

The toughest position in sports. The most cerebral athletes in the game. And the most valuable assets in dynasty fantasy football. Well, for the super-flex leagues, at least.

See, one big difference in the dynasty game and the redraft options are the deeper possibilities available when roster are expanded from 13 to 25. Yep, one of the most dynamic pieces of dynasty football is the deeper bench. The dynasty game is all about assets, and utilizing sets when they’re at their peak value. And in order to better make advantage of the roster rolodex many leagues create a super-flex position, where QBs can slot into the utility role. Sure, you could call it a 2-QB league, but that’s not what it is. In many instances you’ll sway towards another RB during BYE weeks, or the WR on a three-week hot streak over the nominal QB. Which brings me to the point of their elevated value.

There are only 32 of them playing each week (essentially), whereas with other positions you can see triple that. Now, the super-flex leagues obviously raise the QB value to its highest echelon, but even in a more standard version only the select few are held in the highest regard. The shelf life of quarterbacks is quite long (ahem, see: Tom Brady), but if you take a closer look there’s an infusion of youth at the position. So much so that savvy vets like Tony Romo and, most recently, Jay Cutler, ave been relegated to the press box, trading in their chin straps for some chin concealer. Youth matters here, but only when it’s married with a great offense and some strong arm talent. Jared Goff may be an immature young 20-Something, but without more weapons around him he’s just the dude that should be handing off to Todd Gurley.

It’s time for the bedrock of the dynasty roster…the Top 50 Dynasty Quarterbacks!

Razzcast 25: The Post-Draft Episode

http://ift.tt/2p4c74J

We are now entering a creative Renascence, as I like to call it, in terms of our episode titles. You know, people tell me all the time “Jay, stop creating! You’re part of the zeitgeist that makes expression tantamount to the world on a metaphysical level” and my response is always: “wha?”. That being said, we’ve got the NFL Draft to talk about, and so naturally, we do! Matt and Zach arrived a bit tardy, so Tehol and I wax poetic about Marshawn Lynch’s return to the NFL and wonder if the AFC West has the potential to be the best division in football next season. Then the draft talk begins, and we close on a few notes on what we have planned for the preseason and some shows we’ll be watching and discussing in the mean time. And we also talk about Zach being either Jewish or Amish. For some reason. Blame Tehol. Enjoy!

Note: Oh, since you know a hallmark of our shows is the amazing #productionvalue, Matt and Tehol lost connection right before we plugged their Twitters. You can find Tehol here and Matt here

2017 NFL Draft Review

The NFL draft is now behind us and there is a lot to digest.  The Bears made the worst trade in the history of the draft and teams were able to find some value later on Thursday night.  I’m going to pick a couple handfuls of the picks throughout the draft and let you know what you can expect from a fantasy football standpoint.

It’s very difficult to gauge rookie production going into a new season but there are players who were drafted to play a big role right away.  Training camp and the preseason obviously will be the biggest deciding factor for every player’s participation in the regular season, but what is the fun in waiting?  We should talk about football now, we should try and make projections all of the time.  Plus, the more that I write, the more opportunities there are for you to tell me that I’m wrong…
