Love To Hate, Week 4: An Exercise In Futility

Last week I tried something new by analyzing another expert’s weekly picks. Some of you did not take very kindly to my approach. If I’m being honest, while you are entitled to your opinion, your comments did not phase me as I’m right back at it again. If you’ve read my posts, both here and on the baseball side of business, you will know that I like to mix it up with respect to post topics. Some weeks you will get an advice column while others will be more of a recap rant. Sometimes I’ll use my math and computer science background to try and analyze the numbers, and once in a while I like to go off the rails and hit you with a wild card. That is exactly what I did last week. If you didn’t like it, I’m not sorry. If you’d prefer to ignore what I have to say, then I’m pretty sure you know how to to not click the link when you see my name announced as the author. If you don’t, then I suggest you pick up the following book.

Start ‘Em or Sit ‘Em, Week 4: Marshawn Won’t Feel Like Dancing

Note to self: don’t get cute with your picks. Not only will the readers let you hear it, but it’ll blow up in your face. I threw one too many hail marys in my article last week and I’m not sure if any of them were caught. Odell Beckham, Brandin Cooks and Russell Wilson are just a few of the guys who this idiot recommended. Don’t worry, I’ll do better fam! Leave them comments below if you’ve got league specific questions…

RazzBlitz Podcast: Week 4 Preview

Welcome back to the RazzBlitz podcast! We are coming at you a day late, but it’s better late than never. But isn’t it better to never be late? The late bird never gets the worm, unless you can book Jay and Son! That’s exactly what I did. The bossman and Son rift about Week 4 and we actually don’t talk about politics! Considering that the Cheeto is trying to end the NFL one tweet at a time, I think this is quite the accomplishment.

We do a walk through of all of the upcoming action, I make a roster move LIVE ON AIR, and we talk about your trade questions that you asked in the comment sections of our posts! Son also let’s us know what is happening on the Basketball side of the site where RCL’s are open now. What are you waiting for, join or create one right now!

We’re Going Streaming! Week 4: The Week After…

Seriously, who covered Week 3 in the d*cks? Maybe it’s the massive binge of American Vandal I’ve been on and that’s the best parallel I can draw. Maybe it’s the fact that this week was a big red donger on the face of the NFL. Or my picks. BUT I WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS INJUSTICE! Like Peter Maldanado, lets quick spank it to an American Apparel catalog, and then get to the bottom of this clusterf*ck. But seriously, without dick references, let’s put this week in a box and bury it. And then right after I typed that, I started singing Dick In A Box in my head. Quick tangential thought: Bring on Timberlake during the halftime show. I’d rather jam out to him than Lady GaGa a million times over. But I digress. Let’s go streaming! As always, I shoot for guys that are owned in less than 65% of leagues after waivers process Wednesday nights. Bring your green hat Snoop-a-loop!!!

And it looks like we’re back in our usual groove, as Razzball moved from a middling 76th place showing in Week 2 to 29th overall in Week 3. That moves us into the top-quarter of all experts (at 24th overall on the year) as we move into the quarter mark of the football season. So many quarters, so little pay phones! (I have no idea, do pay phones still exist? And if they did, why not just go to an arcade with all those quarters? Wait, do arcades like that still exist? This whole aside makes me feel old.) I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out the clinic our very own Rudy Gamble is putting on, landing 5th overall so far this year and having another greet week, finishing 18th in Week 3. Be sure to check out our tools and projections!

Handcuff Report, Week 4: Mixon It Up

The talk of this week at the running back situation has been Wendell Smallwood. If you don’t believe me, take a scroll through the last dozen or so Razzball articles to see the takes and advice. With Darren Sproles somehow breaking his arm and tearing his ACL on the same play, there are touches available in Philadelphia. LeGarrette Blount is still around and actually looked productive on Sunday, and Corey Clement scored his first career touchdown and could rotate into games going forward, but Smallwood is the guy who stands to benefit the most from the Sproles injury. If you don’t believe me, the Eagles offensive coordinator said as much in his press conference on Tuesday. I have the transcript if you want it.

For me, though, there is a more exciting running back to target. Heading into Week 3, we knew two things: 1. There would be a new offensive coordinator. 2. Marvin Lewis has been coaching the Bengals for 15 years without winning a single playoff game. Number 1 is relevant for fantasy owners, while number 2 is simply fascinating.

The position to watch in Week 3 was running back, as it was expected that we could see more Joe Mixon and less Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard. And that is exactly what happened. Mixon looked like the complete running back he was projected to be coming out of college, gaining more than 100 yards from scrimmage on 21 total touches. Expect that trend to continue going forward, as Mixon should only get better and the Bengals should continue to ride him.

I talked up Mixon last week as a great buy-low option prior to the change at offensive coordinator. Hopefully, you either drafted and stashed him or grabbed him on waivers last week because he is less likely to be available this week. But if he is, grab him and go. On the flip side, I would also try to hold onto Jeremy Hill and/or Giovani Bernard if you have the kind of league that provides you with the roster/bench space to do so. It looks like Mixon will be the guy, but we have seen before that one week doesn’t mean everything and that injuries happen all the time. If you have to pick one, I would probably lean Bernard in PPR.

To the charts!

2017 Fantasy Football Weekly Rankings, Week 4: MB’s Rankings

Folks! I spent a lovely weekend in the fine state of Minnesota breaking bread with the in-laws. Nothing is more refreshing than a three day weekend, except for a four day weekend, which I did not have. On Sunday I went and saw my beloved Buccaneers play the Vikings at the almost brand new U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. While the result of the game made me question why I even still give a shit about this team that breaks my heart in one way or another every year since they won the Super Bowl in 2003, U.S. Bank Stadium is a work of art. The natural early afternoon lighting was an amazing touch to a modern marvel of architecture. The Stadium feels so open for an enclosed structure. I was moderately buzzed by the time I felt like eating, so I grabbed chicken strips without really exploring. But, I later saw people walking around with fantastic looking Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches, artery-clogging nachos, pretty much any stadium cuisine you could desire. I highly recommend checking it out if you ever find yourself in the area.

Here are my rankings for Week 4…
