2018 ADP Preview: June Edition

Hello everyone, and welcome back to the second post in my ADP Preview series, where I’ll be taking a look at many different players and their subsequent ADP data to give Razzball readers a sense of which players I like at their price, which players I do not like at their price, and other draft strategy that I believe is essential for drafts this fall.

We are almost in July, and while we still have between 5 to 6 weeks before Training Camp officially begins, it’s still a great idea to figure out our draft strategies and what players we’ll be targeting in each round.

So let’s get to it!

RazzBlitz Podcast: Fútbol and Football

Welcome back to the RazzBlitz Podcast! This week, Zach joins me to talk about the first week of the World Cup and how I am a terrible soccer gambler. Speaking of luck, we venture into the latest Andrew Luck news and figure out who we would want to roster from the Colts this season. We move onto the Brown’s offense and what to expect from Tyrod Taylor. For whatever reason, we ventured down the rabbit hole of the past 15 years of miserable Tampa Bay Buccaneers football.

Introducing NFL Depth Charts For Fantasy Football

I hate the format of the traditional NFL Depth Chart. Why? Because it is an abject failure in format. Reports should be designed around answering at least one question very well. Answering multiple questions is possible but introduces tradeoffs in simplicity and effectiveness (e.g., to answer 2 questions really well, it might be more complex…or you answer both questions less effectively but retain simplicity).

The Undraftables: Running Back Edition

There is no denying just how important how important the running back position is to fantasy football roster construction. Once you get past the first couple of rounds, the position becomes a cesspool of what ifs. If you’re in a 12 team league, current ADP data says that only eight picks in the first two rounds won’t be a running back. It’s more important than ever to make the right pick.

Just like with wide receivers, this is a pre-training camp evaluation so my opinion is subject to change going into August. But, as of now, I’m going to let you know what running backs that I don’t see myself drafting this season. When I’m drafting running back early, I’m targeting volume second only to skill. Dual-threat is also something that I look for too. I mostly play in PPR leagues. A lot of the time, the past performance and current off season moves at offensive line can also sway me.

Reviewing RB Busts from 2017

What’s going on everyone, and welcome back to the second post in a series I will be doing over the next few weeks, where I’ll be taking a look at each position’s “busts” from the year before (comparing their finish in standard leagues to their pre-season ADP data), to help us figure out what went wrong last year, and to see if they can bounce-back in 2018.

RazzBlitz Podcast: Projections With Rudy Gamble

Rudy Gamble joins me to talk about his 2018 projections and what he picked up on from the 2017 season. It was a great conversation as we got a little bit into position battles, aDOT, and the splitting of work loads. Rudy’s introduction post for 2018 should be up today or tomorrow so be sure to check that out as well!

Analysis: Julian Edelman Faces 4-Game Suspension

In a shocking turn of events Thursday afternoon, the NFL world learned of Julian Edelman’s very likely suspension of 4 games for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

The Patriots aren’t too foreign to the concept of their star players being suspended for 4 games, so let’s dive into what this suspension means for the Patriots, but more importantly, fantasy owners come draft time.

The Undraftables: Wide Receiver Edition

Welcome to a new series that I am starting for our favorite site. I’m going to go through the wide receiver, quarterback, and running back positions and let you know the names that I don’t see myself drafting this year. This is just for me personally so it is certainly not the end-all-be-all. We are approaching June so it’s time for me to start thinking about picking my favorites and and who I will be avoiding at all costs.

The difficult part of this article will be that training camp has yet to start so a lot could change and I may end up contradicting myself down the line. But I am going to try and list the players that I am most certain that I will be avoiding. Most of this will be based on early adp and rankings from the big named sites. So far I have perused Mike Clay, Matthew Berry, and some of the combined FantasyPros rankings to compile my opinions. We’re going to dive into past statistics, current roster construction, among other things. The weather is heating up so let’s bring out the hot takes.
