Chef’s Miss: Monday Night Football Recap

Deep in the nacho cheese-smelling depths of NFL Headquarters somewhere under the Mojave Desert, one of the expert schedulers thought, “Russell Wilson vs Ryan Fitzpatrick…the Chef versus the Magician in Prime Time!” And then 2 months later Fitzmagic is benched for an undrafted QB who wasn’t in the league for two years…that’s Taylor Heinicke bee-tee-dubya. OK, the Magic Man is dealing with a messed-up hip, but it’s tough to argue that his NFL career isn’t over. Meanwhile, Russell Wilson broke a finger and the resulting surgery took him out of commission for a month. When he returned to action, Gordon Ramsey would have kicked him out of the kitchen immediately. In the two games since returning to the field, Wilson had completed a combined 51% of his passes with no TDs and 2 INT. With so many fantasy teams staring down the playoffs and one of the top quarterbacks failing, did we see a resurgence of Russ’ skills? Let’s check in to see how Monday Night Football went.

Donkey On Waivers: Week 13

You’ve just brewed your Tuesday morning honey cappuccino and sat down at the computer to peruse your favorite article of the week: Wright On Waivers. The Joey Wright always knows the exact words needed to brighten your Tuesday mornings, he’s the golden boy. But wait! Donkey On Waivers?! What is this bastardization of fantasy football content! The lack of alliteration in the title is concerning, to say the least. I know this is traumatic. Let me apologize in advance, there’s no possible way for me to adequately fill The Joey’s Shaq-like shoes. But The Joey is nursing a house full of sick women and children—don’t worry, he’s assured me it’s not COVID—so in comes the B-team (Donkey Teeth). If you’re lucky They Joey may make a guest appearance later in the week covering the Buy/Sell column.

The Joey’s goal was to keep this simple with the waiver wire recommendations in terms of layout. He’s demanded that I include player, team, roster percentage, free-agent acquisition budget (FAAB) dollar amount (in percentage) I would use on the player, and of course a little background on why the player is suggested. The players will be listed by position in order of priority. The threshold The Joey tells me to work with is generally less than 50% rostered in leagues. Anyway, here’s some players to consider adding for fantasy football week 13:

From Layoff to Playoffs: Leonard Fournette and Week 12 Fantasy Football

After Jonathan Taylor made me do the TD stutter last week, I get to do another 4 T-Banger for Leonard Fournette. Let’s do a montage! [cue wavy lines and St. Elmo’s Fire starts playing] Last year, Leonard Fournette was going to be the RB1 on the Jacksonville Jaguars, and right before the regular season, the Jags dumped him for…nothing. The guy who had been the face of the team in 2019…and being the face of the Jags isn’t saying much…but the guy who was the offense for the lackluster 2019 Jags was without a job in 2020. He got picked up by the Tampa Bay Buccanneers, a team that was lush with running backs. Like, you couldn’t wave a covid stick in that training room without hitting Ronald Jones, LeSean McCoy, or Dare Ogunbowale. Lenny jumped in with the team, took some time to buy into the system, and by the 2020 Super Bowl run, he had found his footing. Fast forward to 2021 [record scratch] — Lenny’s stepping in when The Goat doesn’t have his A-Game. Tom Brady was merely mortal this week with 226 yards in the air, while Lenny went for 100 on the ground and 3 TDs and another 7 catches for 31 yards and a TD. Not bad for a guy that was taken as your RB2 or FLEX in draft season this year, right?

Bread, Turkey and Apple Pie: Thanksgiving Football Recap

On behalf of all of us at Razzball, let me start by wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving. Hopefully you enjoyed the day filled with family, food, and football. As it has been since 2006, we got 6 games on Thanksgiving including the traditional Cowboys and Lions games. The NFL laid these games out perfectly for us as we got a boring bread and butter appetizer game between Detroit and Chicago to kick off the day. After that, we were treated to the main course which was a Dallas and Las Vegas game that had an exciting second half and even went into overtime. The Thanksgiving slate finished with a sloppy pie a la mode game between Buffalo and New Orleans. Let’s recap the appetizer, main course, and dessert games.

Week 12 Fantasy Football Primer

What’s up Turkey Day fans? Hopefully you’re enjoying a ridiculous amount of food and libations in a safe place with people you enjoy today. It’s holiday fantasy football and I’ve been around the community long enough to know it’s just us degenerates sitting at the table playing 500. Did you keep score? Nah, me neither. Pour another libation and turn the TV on loud, it’s going to be a long day. Let’s see if we can’t save our fantasy football teams while we’re at it.

Each week I’ll be spending countless hours flipping coins in order to determine an order for my weekly rankings which will be published bright and early each Wednesday morning. It’s an elaborate round-robin coinflipping system for each position. Wide receivers alone take me a full Monday worth of coin flips. And I’m currently in the process of filing for workers comp due to carpal tunnel. But it’s well worth it, knowing that you, the loyal Razzball reader, appreciate my pain and sweat. Just so you know you can trust me, here’s how my coin flipping system stacked up against all of the other 149 industry analysts competing against me in the 2020 Fantasy Pros Weekly Ranking Competition:

Anyway, here’s my week 12 rankings for half PPR 2021 fantasy football that will be frequently updated by coin flip up until kickoff:
