Sexy Flexies Week 17 – Gallup Into the Sunset

To be honest with you, if you asked me a few months ago I would have had some doubts that we’d get to where we are today. After the NCAA Tournament was cancelled and the NBA and NHL went into bubbles, I had my doubts we would get a whole football season in. But here we are in week 17! Most leagues had their championships last week, but I know there are still some out there who play to week 17. In addition to your season long leagues, I know some people use the Sexy Flexies article when building their DFS lineups as well. I’d like to hope that I’ve helped you along the way with some valuable flex plays in these Sexy Flexies articles and I want to do that again for you one more time this week.

As you know, every Thursday here on Razzball, I post the weeks “Sexy Flexies” to give you a couple of players to consider starting in your flex spot. The objective isn’t to point out the obvious guys you’re starting in your RB or WR slots, but to take a look at a couple of players who are a bit more under the radar. These will likely be guys that you don’t start every week but are good rotational pieces in the flex spot of your lineup based on matchup and opportunity.

How I Won Against a Super-Squad of Elite Fantasy Footballers

To top off a nice 2020 fantasy football season, I won the DataForceFF Charity League against some world-class competition including John Paulsen, Jake Ciely, Sean Koerner, and Pat Fitzmaurice. Me, the guy that Grey picked off the streets in June with 100 Twitter followers, won an industry best ball competition against the elite rankers and players — guys with full-time jobs in fantasy sports and a combined 300,000 Twitter followers. 

How did I do it? 

I studied the game, and I followed a strategy. 

I’m aiming this article to the hundreds of thousands — nay, millions — of players out there who are always wondering, “Can I really take the next step in my hobby?” I’ve talked to so many of you who are passionate about the game, but lack either the confidence to compete against “pros” or simply don’t know what to do. In the spirit of “a rising tide lifts all ships,” I want to teach you what I learned this year in the hopes that next year you’ll have a great season with your own underdog story of winning against stout competition.

But your stubborn leaguemates insist on playing out your championship in week 17 because there was a flat earth convention during week 16 and they wanted to dedicate full attention to championship week. Now you’re scouring the internet for week 17 fantasy football rankings, but all your favorite analysts are already off on romantic getaways with their new fantasy championship trophies. Fear not! Razzball is here for all you poor week 17 fantasy football suffering souls. Although, if you invested heavily in Chiefs players then you should probably fear a little. Way-too-Early Top 20 Quarterback Rankings for 2021 Fantasy Football

The great part about predicting the future is you can be wrong 99% of the time and still be remembered forever. Right Nostradamus? But get one thing right and they’ll name comets and theories after you. Hopefully after this article, 2021 will be the year of the “EWB Dak Prescott Model of Fantasy Football.” That’s a tongue-twister. Maybe, “Damn the Darnolds!” Actually, I’m gonna start writing a spec script on that right now! 

ENYWHEY. I’m aiming this article for the dynasty players that probably want to shore up their QB position before going into what will undoubtedly be a nasty 2021 campaign for QBs. On the plus side, there are 12 pretty good quarterbacks ready for your 2021 teams. On the downside, it’s a complete catastrophe after that. On the other upside — which is a Soundgarden B-side FYI — quarterbacks have a stunning point parity so if you don’t draft a top QB you can just stream 3-4 QBs at will. 

Foremost, I’m looking at consistency, upside, and return on draft capital. The quarterback position is usually the highest scoring position on a week-t0-week basis for fantasy teams, but there’s also remarkable point parity within the second tier of QBs. (I said that above but the message never seems to get through). On a per-week basis, the second tier of QBs are separated by about 2 fantasy points per game. Your job as a fantasy manager is to try your hardest to get a top QB, and failing that, predict which QB will have consistently high outcomes and play matchups. So, let’s take a look at the QBs going into 2021.

Top 20 Dynasty Rankings for 2021 Fantasy Football

So you just reached the pinnacle of your existence by winning your fantasy football championship, now what? First, finish that pile of celebratory drugs, then slip your pants back on and put the Jergens away. Now it’s time to get back to work, with an eye toward 2021. A couple weeks have passed since I shocked the world with my top 10 dynasty rankings for 2021 fantasy football. December 4th, 2020 is a date which will live in infamy. The date when Donkey Teeth declared D.K. Metcalf as the top dynasty asset in all the land and then took his first shower in three months.

This year I brought in a ringer to keep me in check: Pat Fitzmaurice. Pat is currently sitting at #1 (out of 160 experts) in this year’s FantasyPros’ Ranking Accuracy Competition, he also finished #2 (out of 162 experts) in FP’s Draft Ranking Accuracy Competition in 2019 and he holds the title of #1 most accurate draft ranker from 2017-2019. In short, the man is a fantasy football ranking sorcerer and he was kind enough to record a YouTube show with me discussing each of our top 10s—subscribe and give us a like if you don’t hate it. Fantasy Football Week 16: Sunday Primer & Brady’s Bro Brunch

The day following Christmas is celebrated across Canada as Boxing Day. Each year Tom Brady, a secret Canadian spy, celebrates Boxing Day with an extravagant brunch with all of his favorite football bros–for the first time in a decade Julian Edelman didn’t receive an invite. This year Brady was slinging omelets all over the place, going 22/27 for 348 yards and 4 touchdowns–he now has 36 passing touchdowns on the year–in only one half of football due to blowout circumstances. Rob Gronkowski (2 catches for 28 yards and his 6th and 7th touchdowns) and Mike Evans (10 catches for 181 yards and his 12th and 13th touchdowns) showed up early to the feast, devouring all of the bacon. Chris Godwin (5 catches for 84 yards and his 5th touchdown) got to the party a little later to collect some of the scraps and Leonard Fournette (9 carries for 34 yards, 3 catches for 32 yards and his 6th touchdown) popped in for a brief appearance before ducking out early to score some shopping deals–Boxing Day is a big shopping holiday ya know. Even Antonio Brown (4 catches for 35 yards and his 2nd touchdown) was able to screw his head on long enough to grab himself a Belgian waffle. Anyway, in this post I’ll go over questionable players to watch closely Sunday as well as some sneaky starts this week, who just might be available in your free agent pool depending on how many players are rostered in your league. Marquise Brown hasn’t seen much shadow coverage in 2020 only getting the followed once back in week 2 by Bradley Roby. In that game Brown caught 5 receptions for 42 yards with no scores. In three career games in shadow coverage Brown has yet to top 50 yards in any game. This has led to his career PPG to be just under 5 in .5 PPR.

Week 16 Recommendation – Sit

This week Marquise Brown will square off vs. Giants top CB James Bradberry. Bradberry so far in 2020 has faced 8 WRs in shadow coverage holding them to a combined 8.4 PPG in .5 PPR. This includes holding D.K. Metcalf (5-80), Amari Cooper (2-23) and Allen Robinson (3-33) well below their season averages in 2020. Granted Brown is coming off four straight productive games but this matchup vs. James Bradberry makes him a fade in week 16.

DFS Recommendation – Price FD $6,200 / DK $5,700

Marquise Brown is listed as a top 24 WR on each site making him a DFS fade for week 16. Notable players in the same price range I would pivot to include Jarvis Landry vs. NYJ and Cole Beasley vs. NE.

Fantasy Football Week 16: Saturday Primer & Kamara Kristmas

If you’re in your fantasy championship and your opponent doesn’t own Alvin Kamara then consider it a very Harry Mistress. I mean Merry Christmas. If you are going up against Kamara then take that lump of coal out of your butt and get back to work, there’s still a glimmer of hope for a Christmas miracle. And if you’re in the championship and you own Kamara, then you won’t be getting any more holiday gifts for the next three years after unwrapping 22 carries for 155 yards with 3 catches for 17 yards and 6 touchdowns! SIX TOUCHDOWNS! Kamara now has 21 touchdowns on the season, not too shabby. Anyway, in this post I’ll go over Saturday’s questionable players to watch closely as well as some sneaky starts for this week, who just might be available in your free agent pool depending on how many players are rostered in your league. RazzBowl Recap — Week 15

Welcome, welcome! It’s the championship week of the RazzBowl, so I’m sure there’s a couple new bandwagon followers reading this series for the first time. If you’re new here, let me tell you how this works: 15 weeks ago, over two hundred of the best fantasy footballers drafted teams and then ran the gauntlet of best ball, weekly scoring, and cutlines. Now, we are left with ten teams comprised of managers who didn’t draft Leonard Fournette competing for the Razz Bowl trophy, a bunch of merch, Rudy’s Sweet Tools, and the most important thing: internet validation. 

To help everybody get familiar with the championship players, I’m profiling them just like I would a real football player. Let’s get to know the championship tier!
